Today’s daily digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10.

8/10: An enjoyable Easter Sunday with partly sunny skies and highs in the 60s. Shower chances hold off for much of the day.

Express forecast

  • Today: Partly sunny. PM shower? Highs: Mid- to upper 60s.
  • Tonight: Cloudy. Chance of showers and a t’shower. Lows: Upper 40s to low 50s.
  • Tomorrow: Partly to mostly cloudy, isolated to scattered showers. Highs: 60s.

Forecast in detail

Partial sunshine and comfortably mild temperatures make it an enjoyable Easter Sunday outdoors. However, shower chances increase tonight, with rain at times tomorrow through Wednesday. Unfortunately, the wandering nature of a nearby frontal boundary means a low-confidence forecast for the timing and amount of rain Monday through Wednesday.

Today (Easter Sunday): Temperatures around sunrise are in the upper 40s to near 50, so if you’re heading out early, be sure to grab a jacket. However, with partly sunny skies, we should top out in the mid- to upper 60s. Can’t rule out a stray late-afternoon shower south or southwest of D.C. Winds are light from the northwest around 5 to 10 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Clouds thicken, with an isolated shower possible during the evening, then scattered showers possible overnight and maybe a thundershower. Overnight lows dip to the upper 40s to low 50s. Confidence: Low-Medium

Tomorrow (Monday): Bad timing for a low-confidence forecast given the White House Easter Egg Roll and the Nationals’ home opener, among other outdoor activities. It’s possible that any overnight showers give way to just the chance of an isolated morning shower and a chance of isolated to scattered afternoon showers and thundershowers. But a wetter scenario with more numerous showers is still possible. Stay tuned for updates. Either way, we should be partly to mostly cloudy with highs in the 60s. Confidence: Low

Tomorrow night: It still may just be a chance of isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers through mid-evening, with a better chance of more numerous showers in the late evening and overnight. Otherwise cloudy with lows in the mid-40s to near 50. Confidence: Low

A look ahead

Multiple rounds of showers are likely Tuesday through Wednesday, with thunderstorms possible, too. There should be drier periods, as well. We’ll try to time out the wetter versus drier times as we get closer. Tuesday highs should get to the upper 50s to mid-60s, while Wednesday highs may stall in the mid-50s to near 60. Confidence: Low
